When we feel emotional pain, there are usually 2 types of pain: Clean Pain and Dirty Pain. Clean pain is the authentic pain that comes with grief, disappointment, and nostalgia. Dirty pain is more of a suffering pain that comes from negative thoughts about our circumstances.
