After recently coaching a group that was in burnout following a colleague retiring, I wanted to share a valuable lesson with you. Medicine teaches us many things, and one of the beliefs we uncovered for their group was “Someone has to see the patients.” This belief led them to taking more than humanly possible, overworking, and burning out. With a belief such as this, we put ourselves last and try to give more than the 100% we are already giving.
